In 1969, the first padel court was built behind a home in Acapulco, Mexico. The game was invented to fit walled boundaries in the backyard. Fifty years later, it is played in more than 90 countries as one of the fastest-growing sports in the world. Now it finds a home in DC.

Padel is played two on two, on a court about a third the size of a tennis court, with glass walls the ball can bounce off. The racquet is short and solid, the serve is underhand, and the points run long.
